Hidden deep within the Western Ghats, the Yana Rock Caves are one of nature’s most extraordinary creations. Originally established as a sanctuary in 1951, it was later designated a tiger reserve in 1998 under Project Tiger, making it a safe haven for the majestic Bengal Tigers. But that’s not all, this lush area is home to leopards, elephants, gaurs and an astonishing variety of birds. The rolling hills and meandering Bhadra River create a picturesque backdrop whilst spotting for wildlife. Enjoy the thrill on the jeep and boat safari’s and witness nature at it’s best. Whether looking for elusive predators or absorbing the stunning scenery you will not be disappointed.
Next, we take a step back in time at the Aghoreshwara Temple in Ikkeri, a former capital of the Keladi rulers. Built in the 16th century, this architectural marvel seamlessly blends Vijayanagara and Hoysala styles. Carved from granite, its intricate sculptures showcase the artistry of the era. At the temple’s heart stands a majestic idol of Lord Shiva, with three effigies of Keladi chiefs paying their respects before the shrine. Rich in history, art and spirituality, this temple is a must-visit for architecture buffs and history lovers alike.
Completing the tour is a visit to the mighty Jog Falls—India’s second-highest plunge waterfall. Cascading from an impressive 830 feet (253 meters), the Sharavathi River splits into four distinct streams—Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket—each with its own unique character. During the monsoon season, the falls transform into a roaring spectacle, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors. Whether admiring the view from afar or heading down for a closer look, Jog Falls is the kind of place that leaves you speechless. If you love chasing waterfalls, this is one you simply can’t miss!
